Dart Publishing just seemed to happen...
Rab Dickson and Tony Aitken both enjoyed producing materials for their own classes and departments. They often swapped bits and pieces. In particular, Sixth Year courses presented severe difficulties for many hard pressed teachers. Commercial materials were not available, and many pupils were struggling with scribbled lesson notes and recycled A-level materials.
Rab and Tony had each written a comprehensive set of pupil notes for one option (two courses from six options were required in those days), and these were well received on the swapping market.
Pretty soon colleagues suggested that we should make them available for sale, and Dart (an anagram of the initials of RD and TA) Publishing was born.
We have continued producing materials and offering them at modest cost to colleagues in an attempt to give them time to have a life after school.
